Harp Competitions Timetable March 29th 2008 All Events (Workshops, Competitions, Concert) take place in the Sacred Heart School, Granard. Results of 2007 Competitions 10.00 am Novice Under 2 years tuition. Two contrasting tunes 11.00 am Under 12 Harp Two contrasting tunes 12.00 noon Under I5 Harp John Dungan Cup Two contrasting tunes of choice 2.30 Under 18 (Intermediate) Grace Nugent Cup AlI competitors shall play one tune from each category: I. Traditional Slow Air 2. Traditional Irish Dance Music 3. Other Irish Music: (March, PIanxty: Ancient and Modern Harp Music). 3.30 pm Senior Open Canon Gilfinnan Cup Plus euro650 All competitors shall play three tunes chosen from the following categories: (Two tunes may be played from the same category only if they are contrasting pieces) The three tunes must not be taken from one category only. I. Traditional Slow Air (Gentrai, Geoltari & Suantrai) 2. Traditional Irish Dance Music (Jig, Reel, Hornpipe, Polka & Set Music) 3. Other Irish Music: (March, Planxty: Ancient and Modern Harp Music). 4.30 pm Harp duet. One instrument must be a harp. Melody must be played by both musicians. Competitors must produce birth certificate if requested for Harp competitions.
