Harp Festival March 27th - March 30th 2008

Thursday & Friday March 27th & 28th

Workshops in Traditional Singing, Junior, Intermediate & Senior Harp, Tin Whistle, Fiddle, Poetry & Story-telling in the Sacred Heart School commencing at 10am until 1pm each day.

Thursday March 27th

Session Mór will be held commencing at 8pm.  Workshop Tutors and Students will be performing along with local and visiting artists.  Everyone welcome. 

Friday March 28th

Workshops will continue in Sacred Heart School.

Saturday March 29th

Commencing at 10am, Harp Competitions will continue all day in Sacred Heart School.

Sunday March 30th

Students from Granard Harp School will provide appropriate music during 11.30am Mass in St Mary's Church, Granard.

Céili in the Community Centre, Barrack St.  Dancing from 3pm to 6pm. Music by Carousel. Refreshments served.

Story Telling

Well known poet and playwright, Noel Monohan (Granard and Cavan) will be doing a poetry and story telling workshop on Thursday and Friday mornings.

Competitions

Competitions will be held in Sacred Heart School, Granard on Saturday commencing at 10.00am. Competion classes are for Novice (U-2 years tuition) U-12, U-15, U-18, 0-18, and Harp duet (harp and one other instrument) with many cups, trophies, crystal and a prize fund of over euro2,500. All prize winners will receive a cheque according to the class.
